Ultimately, native support for 3D content on the GPU means Photoshop can compete with the top 3D gaming engines, which look much better than what the legacy APIs offered. With some consistency, the updates are on target and well architected. The traditional dark UI with a UX around text, gradients, and basic layering really put people at ease, as it is familiar conceptually. Certain noncritical items remain simple in the dark UI, such as using selection handles (square) to select and move content and rotate images. In others, the UI is even a little more simplified, such as keyboard shortcuts near the top—a double press of the Command key opens the other app where appropriate.
